Understand your scan activity

Analytics means the numbers and charts that help you understand activity. In CodePersist, they show how often your product links are opened and how that activity changes over time. Start with the total and daily chart; you can explore more detail when you need it.

What does a scan count tell me?

A scan is recorded when CodePersist receives a visit to your product’s main link and sends the visitor to your website or shows your CodePersist product page. Opening that link directly can count too. The total estimates these visits; it does not confirm that an external website finished loading.

One person can visit several times, so 100 scans does not mean 100 different people or 100 purchases. A camera read that never opens the link cannot appear here. We exclude known automated tools, but some automated visits may remain.

Read your first chart

In Daily scans, each point shows the estimated visits on one day. A higher point means more activity. Running total adds each day to the days before it: in this example, 34 scans on the first day and 60 on the second make a running total of 94. View chart data shows the same values in a table.

Try Daily scans to see each day, or Running total to add the days together. Move your pointer over a point or tap it to see its number. With a keyboard, use Tab to reach the chart, then the arrow keys to move between dates. View chart data opens a table of the same numbers.

Try it with your own products

  1. Open Analytics in the app’s left menu. Choose the first and last dates you want to see. For a simple first report, leave the other choices as they are.
  2. Select Apply filters. A filter is simply a choice that narrows the report, such as one product or a shorter date range. The charts update after you apply your choices.
  3. Look at the total, then the daily chart to spot busy and quiet days. With Lite or Premium, you can also compare products or select one product to explore. A zero means no matching activity was recorded; it is different from a message saying that the report could not load.

Dates use UTC, a shared time zone used for reporting. A reporting day starts at midnight UTC, which may be a different time where you live. Both dates you choose are included. Today is still in progress; end at yesterday if you want complete days.

What can I see with my plan?

Free · 7 days of basic analytics

See your overall estimated scans and daily activity for the last 7 days. This is a simple way to check whether your product links are being opened.

Lite · 30 days of standard analytics

Everything in Free, with 30 days of history. See which products get the most scans, compare their activity and open a report for one product. Products with no recorded activity appear with zero scans.

Premium · up to 90 days of advanced analytics

Everything in Lite, with up to 90 days of history. Explore countries, device types and operating systems, combine filters, compare with an earlier period and download your numbers for use in a spreadsheet. The sections below explain these options.

Premium: learn how people open your links

An audience report groups scans into categories. Device means the kind of equipment used, such as a phone, tablet or computer. Operating system means the software that runs it, such as iOS on an iPhone, Android on many phones, or Windows on a computer. Country is an approximate location based on the internet connection, not a person’s exact location.

A percentage tells you a group’s share of the total. In the example below, 68% means about 68 out of every 100 scans came from mobile devices. Other or Unknown means we could not place a visit in a more specific category; it does not mean the QR code failed.

Sample data

See how your audience scans

Example: phones 68%, computers 24%, tablets 8%. That means about 68 of every 100 scans came from phones. Premium charts let you select a group to see only its activity.

Select a product or a group in a chart to narrow the report. For example, look at phone visits to one product. You can combine several choices; Clear filters removes them. For a specific country, open More filters, choose its name, then select Apply filters. Your applied choices also affect the data table and export.

Premium: has activity increased?

Compare with the previous period shows the same number of days immediately before your selected dates, with the same filters. For example, a 7-day report compares with the 7 days before it. The example below shows more scans in the current period than in the previous one.

Sample data

How this period compares

Estimated scans · Equal-length reporting periods

+26.0%
Current period1,865
Previous period1,480

Both periods need to fit inside the history available to you. Two 30-day periods need 60 days of history. Two 90-day periods would need 180 days, which exceeds Premium’s maximum. If the option is unavailable, try a shorter period or later dates. Free and Lite require an upgrade to Premium to use this feature. Comparisons including today can change as more visits arrive.

Premium: use your numbers in a spreadsheet

A spreadsheet is an app that arranges information in rows and columns, such as Excel or Google Sheets. Premium lets you download your report as a CSV file, a simple file these apps can read. Use it to make your own charts or share a report. Our export guide walks through the download and opening the file. Free and Lite do not include export.

Take your scan analytics further

Why might some dates be unavailable?

Your plan sets the maximum history you can view, within the service's three-month retention period. Dates without recorded activity show zero estimates. An upgrade opens more of the history that is still saved; it cannot bring back expired data.

Collection continues when you change plans. Your access changes when the new plan takes effect. Reports show grouped counts and do not identify individual visitors.

Optional: how estimates and history work

Reports count successful GET requests to the default product link: website redirects or hosted product pages. Requests for other link types, errors and HEAD requests (checks that do not open the page) are excluded. Sampling means some traffic is measured and used to estimate the whole, so counts may be approximate. The underlying service retains data for three calendar months; together with the plan limit, this can make the available history shorter than 90 days.
